OUR PROCESS

As a commercial photographer, understanding your objectives and planning the shoot is the key to our success. We keep you in the loop all the way by adding your images to our proofing site so that you can be involved in the editing and the decision-making process.

We can shoot in studio or on location.  We offer retouch work, colour effects and graphic design, ensuring that we deliver the best possible commercial photography to you our client.

CONSIDERATIONS

  • We can provide all aspects of Commercial Photography including, Industrial Photography, Advertising Photography, and PR & Editorial Photography.  We truly believe that photography is key to a great visual marketing campaign and we have the experience and knowledge to achieve the best results.

 

  • Industrial photography is useful for explaining a manufacturing process or a service. With our 20 years of experience in marketing and manufacturing, we understand a few things about what is required to achieve the best results.

 

  • Although it may look like it, excellent PR photography does not just happen; it is the result of a carefully planned operation. Choosing the background, adding props and ensuring the branding is correct are all part of the process. Then, of course, the composition and lighting play their part.

Can you set up on site or do we come to you?

This depends upon the job we are doing. We have studio facilities, and we have a portable studio that can easily be set up on location. Most commissions for editorial or industrial photography are on location, and we can travel wherever required.

 

How long does it take?

We need to allow enough time so that we can plan and prepare for each shot. This will ensure we achieve the best angle for the composition and set up the right lighting. It is recommended to issue a brief detailing the expected use and an idea of the finished shot you require. Once we have this, we can give you an accurate estimate of how long it will take. In some cases, we can offer a creative session to plan the shot in advance.

 

Do you edit the images?

All of the images will receive a basic retouch for sharpness, exposure balance and spotting but we can offer a more comprehensive service post-production service with colour effects and Photoshop work should this be required.

What size are the images?

We shoot with a professional DSLR in raw format so the images can be above 20meg. However, this is often too heavy a file for standard use so we downsize the file and give you a lower resolution copy ideal for your intended use. Don’t worry the file will always be there on my secure servers should you require a copy please let me know.

Do I get to choose the image I want?

Yes, you do. The images will go onto a proofing site and all you do is hit the like button on the image you would like us to edit and deliver. It’s that easy. If we work on a day rate, we will provide you with a facility to download the images from a Dropbox folder.

When will I see them?

We aim to have the proofs available within 48 hours. Once you have selected your preferred photo we will aim to finish the edit within the same time period.

Where can I use my professional photo?

With every shoot, we issue a standard usage licence for the images; this allows you to use the images for your own commercial gain for as long as you require. This licence covers; UK websites with average traffic, social media or email campaigns as well as printed literature and external adverts.

For third party usage or for large international campaigns we can offer (subject to a charge) a higher-level licence based upon the coverage.

Do you provide a model release?

If we are working with staff members or people that you have sourced for the images then it is your responsibility to provide the model release. If we have provided models then we will supply them. Upon request, we can supply a release form for you to use.

Do we need to be there on the day?

This is up to you. You can be as involved as you want or you can simply leave us to it. Some clients like to art-direct or bring in a third party.

How will I get my images?

We use a Dropbox folder to deliver the files digitally. This is quick and easy for both parties.

How do I make a booking?

Simply email or call us and we will discuss your requirements and make the booking. We will then send a confirmation email upon receipt of the booking fee and make arrangements for a meeting to discuss your requirements.

How much will it cost?

We have a simple hourly, half-day and full day rate. If you would like a rate card please contact us or call us for a more comprehensive quote.

Claire and Doug had a blank sheet to work with when they covered my book launch recently.
